Software Description
Synful Orchestra automatically generates natural phrasing and articulation. It is not a sampler or a sample library. It's a new way to create realistic and expressive orchestral music.
Automatically Creates Natural Phrasing and Articulation
Synful Orchestra responds to the performer. When you play a phrase with legato and detached notes, with accents, and pedal nuances, Synful Orchestra responds with realistic sounding slurs, tonguing, and bowing. No laborious editing of performances to select from a limited set of articulations in a sample library.
Realism Expressivity and Ease of Use
Real instruments have many ways of moving from note to note: slurs with varying amounts of portamento, lightly tongued or bowed note transitions, fast runs, detached hard attacks, etc. These note transitions are the connective tissue of musical expression.
Whether you play live or from a MIDI sequence Synful Orchestra models these transitions. If you play staccato Synful Orchestra creates staccato attacks. If you play legato Synful Orchestra creates realistic legato transitions. Synful Orchestra models the way notes are sustained, the graceful onset of vibrato, breath sounds, the sound of the bow on the string, the change of tone color as a note becomes louder or softer. Using the innovate Synful Pitch Wheel mode, you can easily create natural string portamento.
Synful RPM Technology
Synful Orchestra is not a sampler or a sampler library. Synful Orchestra is not a physical modeling synthesizer. It is an entirely new concept in music synthesis. At the heart of Synful Orchestra is Synful’s Reconstructive Phrase Modeling (RPM) technology. This is the result of many years of research, several patents, and a lifetime of experimentation, design, and frustration with older synthesis technologies.
Samplers Are Obsolete for Expressive Instruments
To realize the Synful Orchestra sound examples using even the most advanced sampler with the best sample libraries would require many hours manually selecting samples to achieve different note articulations. Even then the results would be disappointing, stiff, and unnatural. This is because it is impossible to achieve realistic musical phrasing for expressive instruments using samplers. A sample library is a collection of recordings of isolated notes. It is not surprising that when these recordings are strung together they sound like a sequence of unrelated isolated notes. With Synful Orchestra things are different:
- Synful Orchestra models transitions between notes automatically.
- Synful Orchestra models vibrato and extends the duration of notes using sophisticated statistical techniques. Sample loops with all their limitations are a thing of the past.
- Synful Orchestra responds to volume, pitch, and velocity changes with continuous changes in timbre, just like a real instrument.
Synful Orchestra Instruments
Flute, Oboe, English Horn, Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Viola, Cello, Contrabass.
Piccolo, Bass Clarinet, and Tuba will become available in the near future through a free update to Synful Orchestra. All other instruments are currently available.
New in v2.4.3
- Protools/RTAS Compatibility (Mac Only).
- Fixed memory consumption problem that caused sluggish behavior, and even occasional crashes, especially with Logic projects that include many instances of Synful Orchestra.
- Fixed problem with intonation of high notes in tremolo, sul-pont, and sul-pont-tremolo playing modes.
- Fixed problem with enabling, saving and restoring MIDI CC control assignments - this problem only occurred under some unusual circumstances.
- Fixed problem with assigning MIDI CC automatically when loading pre 2.4 projects.
- Fixed a problem that could cause random crashes do to improper handling of note-on events with pitch slide.
- Fixed a problem which, under some conditions, caused the New Authorization window to come up even when Synful Orchestra was already authorized.
- Protected against reading in of project files containing corrupted Synful Orchestra AU preset data.
- Fixed Channel Pressure and Key After Touch MIDI controls. These did not function at all prior to 2.4.2.
- Fixed MIDI program/patch numbers for the Violins1, Violins2, Violas, Cellos, Basses programs. The alternate playing mode program/patch numbers for these programs were set to the same thing as the solo instruments Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass. This made it impossible, for example, to save a project with Violins1, Violins2, Violas, Cellos, Basses selected because they would always be read back as the solo instrument programs. In addition Cellos arco was set incorrectly to bank 0 and has now been corrected to be bank 1.

help!
I am from the uk, and I am looking for an orchestral sounds library, but because I have Windows Vista, I am unable to use Garritn Personal Orchestra
I am lookng everywhere for anything comparable.
Could you recommend something, I was going to download demo, but it is only for the USA.

steve
Re: help!
Hey, maybe you should try Miroslav Philharmonik. It's sounds good!
Dunno if it fits well together with vista.
