Software Description

Total Recorder is a multi-purpose audio recording software with wide editing and sound processing capabilities. The program records streaming audio directly from systems like RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, iTunes, Musicmatch Jukebox, WinAmp, and many others, including Internet telephony programs (Skype, Google Talk, etc.). These recordings are performed without the need for special lines for your sound board and without a loss of quality due to redundant conversions from digital to analog to digital. While recording Internet-telephony conversations, recording of both parties is possible. These features are provided by Total Recorder's virtual driver.

It can also record audio from cassette tapes, LPs, DVDs, CDs or through a microphone connected to your PC. If you are looking for a way of recording such audio for future personal listening, Total Recorder is AN IDEAL solution!

Total Recorder supports free and trial add-ons that can be used to improve the quality of your cassette or vinyl records and voice dictating tremendously, accomplish automatic gain control, apply an equalizer, and send your recordings to iTunes/iPod and others.

New in v7.1

  • Windows Vista 64-bit is fully supported with the introduction of the 64-bit version of Total Recorder's kernel mode driver.
  • Support for tags is extended: Total Recorder can read ID3v2 tags for all versions (version 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4) and ability to add an artwork to the tag within the file is available now.
  • Ability to play multichannel audio files in stereo, provided that an appropriate audio codec is installed.
  • Statistics, including the total duration and the total size for selected files in a playlist, can be displayed.
  • Other minor enhancements.

Suddenly I get right channel only!

After months of working great, Total Recorder now records only to the right channel! What happened? I found this in the fact, but I can't find the checkboxes they refer to. Can anyone help?

From their FAQ:

When I try to record streaming audio, my recording can be heard from only the right speaker even though the original sound is stereo. Why?

This is the expected behaviour if you have checked both of the check boxes: "Record also input streams" and "Put each speaker in a separate channel" (formerly "Make Stereo"). In this case, each speaker voice (when recording Internet telephony) will go to a separate channel. When recording anything other than Internet telephony, and both boxes are checked, it will lead to this situation.

i have a Yamaha 620 and when i Record a song onto the song bank and then put it on Floppy disk, all is fine. But when i try and Run it, it doesnt play. i am Preferably looking for somehow of Recording it Straight from the Keyboard to the Pc, can you help?

Rm to wma converter not recorder????

I am looking for rm converter to wma if there is some converter for it. it would be nice there are recorders but when you have a lot of collection it would really a big big time to record each song. can some one help me out to this with some converter or some script I would really be thank full

Use better programm. There are a lot of Streaming Audio Recorders as well as software allowing to record Streaming Video.

I live in an area that has NO bandwidth, the only way I can get a digital signal is to get it from my Dish. Does anyone know if I can set up a video dish that offers music to stream to my PC, so I can use total recorder to capture the signal?

Or (if you do not want to use the latest version for some reasons address to High Criteria Support Team).

Need serious help- Stops recording right?

This product is great, but has anyone had this problem: After about 55 seconds it starts recording it with a high-pitched beep sound side-effect. This is really bad. Anybody know how to fix it? PLEEEASE help!

You use a hacked version of Total Recorder. Buy Total Recorder, register it and use without any problems.

I have found a great application for the Mac OS X 10.2 can record audio from anything playing through the Mac speakers. It is just like TotalRecorder. It is called WireTap and it is Freeware. Here is the link. http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/freebies Hope this helps.

Hey folks... I just found what you need, it's called Audio Hijack, captures the audio output of any app on OSX. Can be used to record streaming radio (although RadioLover is better for than specific purpose). I plan to use Audio Hijack to add the iTunes "sound enhancer" effect to some of my AIFF files.
