Software Description

n-Track Studio is an Audio and MIDI Digital Multitrack Recorder that transforms your PC into a powerful audio recording studio.

n-Track Studio allows to use your computer as a complete recording studio. You can record and playback a virtually unlimited number of audio and MIDI tracks, depending on your computer’s speed. Realtime Audio effects can be added to each track, to the master, group or aux channels non-destructively: you can adjust the effect settings and listen to the result in real time. Besides its native effects (Reverb, Compression, EQ, Echo, Auto volume, Pitch Shift and Chorus) the program also supports third party DirectX and VST 2.0 plug-ins.

The program works with any standard or multichannel 16 and 24 bit soundcards at sampling frequencies up to 192 Khz.

Supports VST Instruments and DirectX Instruments synth plug-ins: sample-accurate MIDI tracks can be processed with plug-ins and sent to the main audio output, without the need of an hardware MIDI synth.

LIVE Input processing allows to process with plug-ins live signal(s). Record the 'dry' (unprocessed) signal while processing and reprocess the recording later - i.e. play a guitar through a distortion plug-in then change the distortion after the recording.

Supporting standard Windows soundcards drivers (MME), WDM, Asio and DirectSound drivers the program is compatible with virtually any soundcard and audio recording interface available for PCs.

Each audio track includes a 20 bands parametric EQ with graphical frequency response view, a full spectrum analyzer and an automatic instrument tuner.
Up to 32 aux channels with fully automated sends & returns.

Multiple input and output soundcards or more than one soundcard are supported: you can record multiple tracks at a time and output to more than one stereo output. Each output channels has its own master channel effects and volume control.

Supporting both DirectX and VST plug-ins, the program allows using virtually all the plug-ins available for the PC platform.

n-Track supports Re Wire technology by Propellerhead Software AB: signals from other programs (such as Rebirth, Ableton Live and many others) can be mixed in realtime with n-Track's own channels.

Effects processing and internal mixing uses 32 bit resolution. Any combination of 16, 24 and 32 bit mono and stereo wave files can be used in the same song or even on the same track

The program can sync to other programs or external devices using SMPTE/MTC or MIDI Clock sync, acting either as master or slave

The program can load and save MIDI tracks to standard MIDI files

Destructive and non-destructive editing operations can be performed within the program, allowing easy copy, cut, paste of portions of wave files between different tracks

MIDI tracks can be edited in the Piano Roll window. Wave and MIDI tracks are treated in the same fashion: all the controls work in a similar way for both audio and MIDI tracks.

Videos (AVI, MPEG) can be played in sync with the song in a dedicated video playback window

A single track can contain an unlimited number of wave files.

Volume, pan, aux send and return can be automated: you can "program" fade-in/outs, cross fades, boost the volume of a track when there is a solo etc..

You can record the evolution of effects parameters (for example change the length of a delay effect during the course of the song)

As audio tracks data is stored in standard wave files, you'll be able to process the tracks with the help of an external wave editor. Once finished recording the whole song, you can mixdown all the tracks into a single wav file and to use it to record an audio CD track using a CD recorder or to distribute the song via internet using the built-in mp3 encoder.

N-track

I've been using N-track for years for assembling my recorded tracks and performing edits, panning, and volume envelopes. It has a direct link feature to your stereo track editor such as Sound Forge or WAVOsaur, so you can do micro-editing and the track updates in N-track...cool feature.
For the price, I find N-track to be an amazing deal... I've used others such as Audition and Cakewalk, but they are resource pigs and perform overall no better than N-track; but cost a LOT more!

Thanks for your n-Track review

Thanks for your review Tulsa. It certainly helps other visitors make the right choice.

question

Okay here's the thing I have a roland vs2000 on the way, but I'm also looking for some software to run my music through for extra editing until the final mixdown. Would anyone recommend N-Track Studio?

YES, definitely. That's

YES, definitely. That's exactly that is what I do... I d/l the tracks from my Boss recorder and arrange them in N-track... it's very good for that kind of thing... you can master with N-track as well... it uses DX and VST plugs easily.. so Ozone works flawlessly...

Don´t bother downloading

for more than 6 years this "Software" is still in Beta and I tested it on a lot of different PCs ( everytime I get a new one or a better Soundcard ...) and this §$%&#? N-Track never worked...

I obviously don't know what

I obviously don't know what you were trying to accomplish with N-track, but I have NEVER had a problem with it. I've used it since very early versions without a snag. Maybe you're trying to do things that it isn't capable of doing? btw, what program do you use that is so much better?

n-track is the best

i lurve this software! much easier to
use than sonar and a hell of a lot
cheaper too!

Doesn't work well with multi - I/O

If you look at the fasoft.com site, there some info about soundcards that work with n-Track, and they're pretty much all single or stereo I/O cards. This program is primarily for home users who are stacking one track at a time. If you have a multi-input card and want to really multi track, like record a drum kit, band, etc., look elswhere....check out Kristal Audio Engine, it works great and is free! I recorded this song using Kristal: <a href="http://www.angelfire.com/zine2/timmeh/laurie_song_Kristal_Mstr2.mp3" target="new343">http://www.angelfire.com/zine2/timmeh/laurie_song_Kristal_Mstr2.mp3</a>

Actually, n-track works great with multi I/O

Actually, n-track works great with multi I/O - I use it capture tracks from a 4-track cassette machine that had individual outputs for each track, and it did the job perfectly, and with minimal setup. I used the M-Audio OMNI box and Delta 66 soundcard. I have not tried it with more than 4 tracks though. But it worked great for that.

song

yo i like your song its got a good riff. take out your solos becuz although it proves you can rip it doesnt match the song and seems out of place. Either that or slow the solos down ALOT. Also take out that organ sound. Other than that its a great song. Keep it up you have a good voice.

n-Track vs Adobe Audition

I'm trying to decide whether to buy Adobe Audition or n-Track.

There's a huge difference in the price but n-Track seems to have most of the feature of Adobe Audition.

What am I missing here?

Re: n-Track vs Adobe Audition

Dear Friend,

I will suggest you to take n-Track Studio. It is the best software that I have ever seen till date.

I have been using this software in my Studio http://antardhwani.tripod.com

for the last more than three years and I have always found it as the BEST.

Mark............
I use both of these and the two greatest things I notice other than the great diff in price is the fact that Cool Edit does NOT record MiDi ALLTHOUGH the wave editing is somewhat easer in Cool Edit. I you need midi and cost is an issue I would go for n-tracks In my opinion Cool Edit is no where near worth what they ask but it is powerfull...I sujust you try a demo of each then deside.......I hope this helps

Re: Trouble Making WAV's & MP3's

Ok, I visited the FaSoft website, and after reading for half an hour, I discovered the ugly organ sound placed in WAV files was intensionally put in the program and would only go away after purchasing. I also received the same answer via tech support in less than a day that says something.

Duh !

Its called a demo limitation, its done so you have to purchase the software.

Trouble Making WAV's & MP3's

I am having a difficult time making WAV and MP3 files. Every 30 seconds or so, I get a loud bong-bong-bong-bong-bong. This is not present in the .sng file, just .wav or .mp3 files. I am using a Soundblaster Live! 24 bit sound card and have set the sampling rate to 48,000 per the help file. What am I doing wrong? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

Problem Installing N-track 3.3

Hey,I just got n-track 3.3 The problem is that when I open the ntrack_sw.exe it doesn't do anything. Sometimes it gives me a pop-up that says I should make sure my temporary folder is valid and that it has enough space. It doesn't give me a specific location to check, though. This computer has more than enough space and so does the folder I'm downloading files to. What should I do?

Re: Problem Installing N-track 3.3

Hi there. First, you should uninstall the old version of n-track by clicking in add and remove programs. After that reboot and try intalling again.

Love N Track but have Lag Problem

Long tme user of N Track but with my new system serious lag problem after 5 tracks.

New System is Intel Pentium 4, 2.4 GHZ. 256 MB Ram, 40 GB HD, Audigy 2
Recording at 24/96

static

I'm considering the software, but I keep having static. I can turn on the mic, hit record, and there's noise even before I begin to make any. What's up?

Try turning your CD Volume in the windows mixer down. I had this problem and tried everything. Then I thought of Muting the CdRom drive and that was it.

Excellent for realtime Guitar.

I have been searching for a standalone for my VST and DX plugins, (Amplitube, Revalver)for awhile. I wanted something simple. didnt want to get Sonar or Cubase they were way more than I needed. Then I found N-Track, heaven sent, it has the LIVE feature I needed for my guitar and effects and its both VST and DX compliant. WOW!
And above all its so easy to use.
I was going to get Guitar Tracks Pro, But no need I have everything I need here.
Great Job Fasoft.
Excellent product, would highly recommend.

Wave editor

Does N-Track have a wave editor?

Re: Wave editor

no, but you can configure N-track, in preferences , and N-track will call the editor that you want, for example, cool edit or sound forge. You can load, the track in the editor, making right click in the track and selecting "launch wave editor"

Recording to from Mic to CD

I purchased NTrack for my husband it is he records by singing into the microphone uses the features on the program the problem is when he goes to record it to the CD it wont play on a regular CD Player. I am sure it is something simple but he has tried everything please help..if you could send your responses to either Bigguymix@aol.com or Cierramix@aol.com would appreciate any insight..

I think i may know what the problem is, when your husband has saved the track. it then has to be "mixed down" (look under file ) or it will not record or play. also the volume is quite a bit lower than a normal cd. I hope this helps as i had the same problem with n-track. Once you are used to it it is a good program. I am a karaoke dj and use to record people live at gigs, it works great good luck

Re: Recording to from Mic to CD

: Don't forget to render it.Make sure you change it to an MP3 file also.Or a wav file.MP3 file is more recommended cause a wav file will take up too much memory.Well, actually when you first record something it is automatically a wav file. There should be a tool thhere with NTrack to convert the file to either Microsoft wav. file or MP3 file. Then you can burn it to CD.Thats how remmembr to do it.When I had Ntrak, that is.

GREAT WAY TO MAKE MONEY-READ THIS!!!!!!

This really works, please read carefully!!!

HOW TO TURN $6 INTO $6,000!!!!!!
READING THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little
while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now,
and came across an article similar to this that said you could make
thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of
$6.00! So I thought, Yeah right, this must be a scam, but
like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said
that you send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the
article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of
the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups.
(There are thousands) No catch, that was it. So after thinking it
over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I
figured: what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00,
right? Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!...
within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I
figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my
first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had
made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over
$10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I
have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in
rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more
than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you how this works and most
importantly, why it works....Also, make sure you print a copy of this
article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it.
I promise you that if you follow the directions exactly, that you
will start making more money than you thought possible by doing
something so easy!
Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully! (print it out or
download it.) Follow the simple directions and watch the money come in!
It's easy. It's legal. And, your investment is only $6.00 (Plus postage)

IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not indecent; it is not
illegal; and it is virtually no risk - it really works!!!!
If all of the following instructions are adhered to, you will receive
extraordinary dividends.

PLEASE NOTE:
Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000 or more can be
yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful because of
the honesty and integrity of the participants. Please continue its
success by carefully adhering to the instructions.
You will now become part of the Mail Order business. In this business
your product is not solid and tangible, it's a service. You are in
the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are
happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. However, the money made
from the mailing lists is secondary to the income which is made from
people like you and me asking to be included in that list.
Here are the 4 easy steps to success:

STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on
each piece of paper;PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST. Now
get 6 US $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of
paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope (to prevent
thievery). Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal
them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of
paper stating the above phrase, your name and address, and a $1.00
bill. What you are doing is creating a service. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY
LEGAL! You are requesting a legitimate service and you are paying for
it! Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried
about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S.
Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed
legal! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses:

#1) Jeff Millan
1113 N. 19 ½
McAllen,TX 78501
#2) R. Overton
P.O. Box 18818
So. Lake Tahoe, CA 96151
#3) KEVIN LEE
8377 APT. I MONTGOMERY RUN RD.
ELLICOTT CITY MD 21043
#4) Stephanie Hicks
1283 Evening Canyon
Henderson NV 89014
#5) Matt Madracki
P.O. Box 1529
Sutton West, Ontario
L0E 1R0
#6) Shane Holloway
3342 Circle Brook DR APT B
Roanoke, Virginia 24014

STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move
the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc...) and add YOUR
Name as number 6 on the list.

STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as
close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at
least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups) All
you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make!
This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18
Sec. 1302 & 1341 of the Postal lottery laws.
Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and, whenever you need money,
you can use it again, and again.

PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because of the
honesty and integrity of the participants and by their carefully
adhering to the directions. Look at it this way. If you are of
integrity, the program will continue and the money that so many
others have received will come your way.

NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to you,
either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send you.
This VERIFIES that you are truly providing a service. (Also, it might
be a good idea to wrap the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail theft.)

So, as each post is downloaded and the directions carefully followed,
six members will be reimbursed for their participation as a List
Developer with one dollar each. Your name will move up the list
geometrically so that when your name reaches the #1 position you will
be receiving thousands of dollars in CASH!!! What an opportunity for
only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of the first six people listed above) Send
it now, add your own name to the list and you're in business!

---DIRECTIONS ----- FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS------------
Step 1) You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own
posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and
drag your cursor to the bottom of this document, and select 'copy'
from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the
computer's memory.

Step 2) Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your cursor at the top
of the blank page. From the 'edit' menu select 'paste'. This will
paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name
to the list.

Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If
you want to do your postings in different settings, you'll always
have this file to go back to.

Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for
various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites,
discussions.)

Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new
message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste
from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that
everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a
particular group, click the post message button. You're done with
your first one! Congratulations...THAT'S IT! All you have to do is
jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang of
it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup!
**REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A
MINIMUM OF 200**
That's it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O.Box due to the large amount of mail you
will receive. If
you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as
the postman will deliver it.
**JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.**

Now the WHY part:
Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons
who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200
postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each
of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each
make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I
will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn
around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5
replies each, I will make an additional $626.00! OK, now here is the
fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with
my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me
$3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200
newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200
newsgroups react I will receive $15,625,00! With an original
investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the
list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send
out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6
again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is: do you
realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the
internet and reading these articles everyday?, JUST LIKE YOU are
now!! So, can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think
so... People have said, "e;what if the plan is played out and no
one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that
happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest
people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are
willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new
users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual
internet.
Remember: play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really
work.

PowerTracks or ntrack ?

Hello,

I tried ntrack 3.19. I set effects on the track I wanted to record live, clicked on the button "live" but the only effect I got was the crash of the ntrack soft.
As I do not find ntrack stable, I plan to try PowerTrack (http://www.pgmusic.com/).

Do you have any experience with it ?

Thanks,

Marc

Re: PowerTracks or ntrack ?

:Marc, I use both programs. And have finally gotten to understand Power Tracks. My brother likes and prefers N-track. I used to have crash problems, but when I finally got the key code, I haven't had it crash for a long time. I think Power Tracks is a little easier to use, but you cannot use VST plug ins in it; they are not designed for Power Tracks. Still a great program and does most everything you could want. And PG continues to improve the program. Power Tracks requires a lot of rechanneling to keep all the patches on their tracks, but once done, the effect is tremendous! Hope this helps!
