Cheer up Maria, a person with your ability to use every forum messaging function and font color in the very first message certainly has hidden talents. If I could suggest, maybe some classes on story telling to go with your flamboyant typing

Dear Melissa, it is comforting to know that there is someone out there that can and is willing to help talented singers, your advice is very comforting.
I have only one problem - confidence. Many times I have been told that I have a really nice voice, I have been likened to Amy Lee from Evanescence many times (unfortunately) but that is me singing naturally, I'm not trying to imitate. I have been told I should do something about it and try and make something of my voice, but confidence is holding me back. Some musicians such as Michael Stipe (REM) are painfully shy but they manage to succeed.
If I had the confidence I could go places, but I don't. Do you have any tips on how to gain the confidence to sing in front of a crowd? I wouldn't ask you for advice if I didn't think you were going to give good, useful advice.
Thanks,
Bekki

Right. You problem is spelling not confidence. What does a 12 year old know about REM anyway :)

First of all Brien (I always thought that was spelt with an 'a' to be honest!)People type things incorrectly, like I did. So I put magicians instead of musicians, I apologise for putting the wrong word!

Second of all, what makes you think I am 12? Because my username is IrishClover13? If that's what made you think so maybe you should get your eyes tested, it says 13. And 13 is my birthday and lucky number, I am 19 years old and was bought up listening to REM and happen to one of my favourite bands. Before you start complaining and assuming use that one very small brain cell you have and keep your pathetic opinions to yourself.

Oh, and also, if you want to get picky about spelling, you should have put:
"YOUR problem," not "YOU problem."

This name is spelled one of three different ways to my knowledge, ien, ian or yan.

Consider yourself enlightened .

There's a pretty big difference between magicians and musicians, so to make a mistake like that is pretty bad!

I am aware there is a big difference, that doesn't mean I can't make a mistake.
I can take the criticism, what annoys me is when someone assumes, not criticizes. Considering I don't think I have a good voice I agree when someone criticizes my voice, not the opposite. But thankfully I have never had anyone criticize my voice, only compliment me.

Anyway, why are people picking particularly on me? Just because I made a spelling mistake whether it be a big mistake to make or not. I'm a nice person (although I agree the brain cell comment was a little over the top and I apologise Brien, I can't complain about the spelling of your name, I spell mine Bekki!!)

Sorry if I offended anyone, I just want to gain a bit of confidence and that's why I am here. It's not fair of people to judge my knowledge in music because my username has 13 in it. But, as you say, maybe I won't be able to take criticism if I ever did get anywhere, but I won't know until I get the confidence and comments like that won't get me that. So, sorry again!

Ms. Bekki,

Before I look at your side I would like you to look at my side for a minute. Every time I see good spelling in this childish thread my first order of business is to make my presence known. If I didn't, you would not hear from anyone. Although I have been told that given the choice they would just as soon not hear from me:)

I wasn't picking on you...or your spelling. But there are many many times that some newbie will slide in here and before you know it, we get spammed. I no longer have mod permissions on this board so I cannot fight spam hand-to-hand and just delete it. But I can say hello:)

If I had the option this thread would be deleted completely, and I will tell you why.

I am not convinced that the person that started the thread has your best interests at heart. That is all I am going to say about that.

You have not offended me or anyone else here, so no apologies required. But thank you for doing it any way.

Good luck in your future. The music world is dark and cold and thirsty for blood and willing to sale your honor for a song. And those are the good points:)

Brien
