Hi Liz,
I am a singer/guitarist who broke into the music buisnnes, I'm not famous but I am well know in my area. Washington is a strategic place to live in, alot more music buisness than in massachusetts. If you wanna break in:
Write some ORIGINAL songs, try adding a back up acoustic to them. If it takes a while, it is worth it, all female singers should know how to play guitar.
(lindsey lohan, ect ect ect..)
Record them on tape or CD and send it to some local studios.. Make sure you write a convincing letter to the manager addressing him/her about your music, what you wish to accomplish, and where you wanna go. Do karaoke night they will help. Studio managers often go to karaoke contests to look for new artists for their label. Make sure you sing a song with a lot of range...it's okay to show off on stage.....
go to musemuse.com and learn all you can.....
good luck

if your into rap or w/e then you dont really need music in the demo.... |
