I have found the best software to be T-Racks. It isn't cheap though, so it depends how much mastering you will be wanting to do.
The alternative (a better one) is to get someone else to master it. It is always preferable to have another pair of ears finishing the track. A good mastering studio will probably charge around £500-600 for an album, but you can find guys like me for as little as £150. Perhaps not as good as the big guys, but still very good value for money (I can't guarantee that they will all be as good though!)
You can check out an example of what I can do on http://www.wobblymusic.net/MixingandMastering.htm |

...and if I might add. Mastering a recording only works if you have good solid recorded and well mixed tracks. If you Master a poorly mixed recording then you have a Mastered but otherwise poorly mixed song, which is to no ones advantage.
If you are recording the piece yourself, look deeper into the software, it may have, at best, some plug-ins to finalize the stereo tracks.
If you would like another option, you can look into Mackies, Tracktion recording software. It includes some Mastering plug-ins that are real helpful in raising the percieved loudness of sound and frequency boost/cut models.
As the guest above mentioned, often, if the track is that important, let the Mastering be done by those that do it. |
