You need an interface (a sound card, but more expensive) that supports simultaneous multiple inputs. I would assume that acid 4 supports multi-tracking, but I no longer use it. Just look for an interface, and look in you acid manual/help file for "multitrack recording."
In Cubase you are able to assign each track a specific input and output channel, but when you have a Soundblaster 16 or whatever, you don't physically have but one or two options. I would also suggest trying to find some project studios in your area, and recording with/learning from the people that run them. |

If you are doing this yourself you should be able to record one track at a time. You will be limited to a left or right channel. I suppose you could do a stereo image, if you are able to build the song one track at a time.
If your not doing it one track at a time then you may require an updates sound card, like the one I use, a Delta(M-audio) 1010lt |
