Ok, Does anyone know a good software where you can import an mp3 or m4a music song and then it divides ALL the tracks into separate tracks so you can mute all of them and only here the bass and drums or just the lead guitar, or etc. And don't say "that doesn't exist", because it does. I know this because in rock band if you mess up or fail it deletes the failing instrument's track from the song. So there is proof and now i need an answer to my question, please reply!
*It must be compatible with Windows XP or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). |

The type of recording program you are refering too is
a multitrack, for example Mixcraft or Audacity.
Each track, guitar, bass, drums etc has it's own dedicated
track in the program and can be deleted or re-recorded at will.
If the song is saved in the parent program it can be opened
later and tracks added or deleted or adjusted as required.
This ONLY applies when using the original saved audio file
in the parent program's format.
The same applies to tape.
The original multitrack master tape can be re edited later
but if mixed down to stereo the stereo copy can't be re-split
into the separate instrument's tracks.
You CAN NOT split a stereo audio file into separate tracks once
it has been mixed down into stereo.
This applies to all formats, mp3, m4a, wav, ripped from cd etc.
If the original mutitrack contains, say, 8 tracks and they are mixed down
to 2 stereo tracks all the information is combined or mixed into 2
and they can't be separated out from that.
If a program did exist to do it you can bet I'd have it to put my
own bass lines into the best bands in the business! |

| so are you saying that Rock Band (mtv games) has the original recordings of wonderwall and limelight, and is there a website to download the original recordings so that you CAN edit the tracks? |

That doesn't exist.
What you have is a game of some sort were a corporation has paid money to use the masters of particular songs. Or, as may more correctly be the case, a symbiotic relationship exists.
MTV doesn't exist without musical videos and musical vides need a forum.
So, it doesn't exist and as was explained just cannot be done. |
